Product Description

General Application Acetoxy Silicone Sealant

Features & Benefits

One-part room temperature cured silicone sealant
Good flexibility after cured

Good adhesion to glass and ceramic materials

Applications

DOWSIL General Purpose Silicone Sealant is a general application acetoxy silicone sealant, designed for:

  • Window and door glass filling and sealing
  • Glass to glass adhesion and sealing
  • Ceramic materials adhesion and sealing

How To Use

Preparation

Remove all residual dirt, residual and old sealant thoroughly. Wipe off grease and dirt on the surface with a piece of white cloth with solvent, then wipe immediately with another piece of clean cloth, so as to remove the residual solvent and dirt on the surface.

Masking

Masking will ensure a clean, neat appearance and reduce clean up by protecting surrounding areas from excess sealant.

Applying

Cut the nozzle at 45 and screw onto cartridge, and place it into caulking gum. Air-operated or hand-operated caulking guns can be used. Apply sealant into the base of the joint so that it completely fills the joint, wetting both sides. Do not simply lay a bead on the surface as the sealant will not penetrate the joint under its own weight.

Tooling

Tool the surface of the joint immediately after sealant application to provide a smooth even finish and to ensure the sealant wets the sides of the joint. A tool with a convex profile is recommended to keep the sealant within the joint. Do not use soap or water as tooling aids. After a skin has formed, do not disturb the joint for 48 hours.

Handling Precautions

Test it before use. The user is responsible to conduct property test before using to confirm the sealant produces satisfied results. Especially for the surface which is difficult to adhesion and coated substrates, the cohesiveness should be tested.
